Rock With the Legends in Guitar Hero III
There is perhaps no family of video games on the planet right now that has gained such a massive following as the Guitar Hero franchise, and it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out why. The hands on, intuitive nature of the Guitar controller gives someone who may not have what it takes to be a stellar musician the ability to sound as if they were the next Jimi Hendrix. With each release, fans grow hungry for more, which is why Activision and Neversoft are keeping the ball rolling with their installment of Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock.
Legends of Rock, available on all major platform systems, is not just a slight update from the previous games, but is instead a fresh experience worthy of purchase even if you own the others in the Guitar Hero series. If you haven't played any of the Guitar Hero games of the past, the premise is simple. Using the guitar controller, you play along to the music by hitting buttons on the controller as their corresponding shapes scroll down the screen in front of you. The basic tenant of the game is to correctly time your strumming - when done correctly, even the most amateur player can sound like a rock star.
The game play in Guitar Hero II is almost identical to the others in the series, however it has a new soundtrack, that is possibly the best of the series. Along with the new songs comes a list of some of the greatest rock and roll artists in the industry, such as Slash and Jimi Hendrix. The storyline is minimal, however it is a game about fun and guitar playing and does not require an in depth story line.
They say a music game is only as good as they sound, Legends of Rock has a great sound, that's even more incredible on a surround sound. This game really cranks out the tunes at the right times, so make sure your windows are shut! As for graphics, there are games that are much better, but again this game is about the music.
If you're looking for an incredibly fun, easy to pick up (but impossible to put down) game to share with all your friends, Legends of Rock is the one for you!
